Bret Altimore joined the Wilson Phoenix in July 2025 after serving as an assistant coach for McDaniel. With the help of Altimore's guidance, the Green Terror made their first conference tournament appearance for the first time since 2005 last season. From there McDaniel went to the ECAC tournament where it won its first postseason game in seven years en route to a semifinal appearance.
Altimore has also been a club coach and guided FC Ballyhoo 07B to its first national championship in 2023. As a result he was named the EPYSA Coach of the Year while the team earned EPYSA Team of the Year honors.
He's also had an extensive coaching career at the high school ranks where he led teams to an undefeated regular season, a 32-game conference winning streak, back-to-back league championships, and two division championships. In 2013, he was named the YAIAA Division II Coach of the Year.
Before moving to Pennsylvania, Altimore lived in Virginia where he led teams to five district tournament championships, a regional runner-up finish, and a VHSL AA semifinal appearance.
Altimore earned a bachelor's degree in administration of justice with a minor in sociology from Ferrum College. He has also led a successful professional career in law enforcement.
