(ALTOONA, Pa.) – The Wilson women's soccer team was back in action Saturday as it headed west to take on Penn State Altoona in non-conference action. The Phoenix battled through the full 90 with
Madison Ebersole (Jr., Big Pool, Md. / Clear Springs) reaching double digits in saves once again, but the Lions used an early goal to build momentum and go on to victory.

How It Happened
- Altoona benefited from putting pressure on early and found the back of the net 2:30 into the contest. They followed up with another shot six minutes later, but Ebersole was able to make the save to keep it a 1-0 game. The Phoenix proceeded to build some momentum which resulted in Claire Thompson (FY, Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finding an open look at the goal which was saved by Altoona's Mya Torres. The Lions resumed the pressure and eventually scored another in the 24th minute.
- The Phoenix came out in the second half on fire and had three chances in the opening 10 minutes. Lena Pope (FY, Shepherdstown, W.Va. / Jefferson) had the first which went over the target in the 48th. Caden Edmunds (FY, Etters, Pa. / Red Land) and Breanna Oliviero (So., Wernersville, Pa. / Conrad Weiser) both had open looks with saves by Torres before Altoona scored in the 55th. The Lions added another in the 66th for the final tally.
Inside The Numbers
- Ebersole went the full 90 and recorded a dozen saves on 16 shots on goal faced. It's the second time this season she's recorded at least 10 saves.
- Edmunds, Pope and Oliviero all paced the Phoenix with two shots each.
- Corner kicks were even at three each.

It will be short rest for Wilson as they remain in western Pennsylvania to take on Mount Aloysius in a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m.
