Lions Pull Away From Wilson In Second Half

(READING, Pa.) – Wilson looked to remain unbeaten as it took on Albright on Saturday afternoon, but the hosting Lions foiled those plans with two second half goals to down the Phoenix. The Phoenix defense turned in an impressive performance in the first half before the Lions were able to break through in the 58th minute and added an insurance goal in the 88th to seal the victory.

How It Happened
  • The Wilson back line was tested early and often as Albright fired off six shots in the opening 22 minutes. Noah Lucas (FY, Landisburg, Pa. / Heritage Christian) came up with three big saves while two additional shots went off the posts. Lucas remained busy in the first half with three additional saves to keep the game scoreless. On the opposite end, the Blue and White attack saw limited chances with Jayden Mosquera (So., Chesapeak, Va. / Great Bridge) taking the only shot in the first half for the visitors.
  • Albright eventually broke through after threatening multiple times on set pieces. The third corner kick in just over a minute proved to be the charm as Kaleb Simpson found the back of the net in the 58th minute. The Phoenix saw solid chances to equalize as they recorded five shots over the next 12 minutes. Wes Reall Jr. (So., Carlisle, Pa. / Big Spring), Jace Williams (Sr., Chesapeake, Va. / Hickory), and Landown Howe (Sr., Martinsburg, W.Va. / St. Maria Goretti) all had takes that required saves from Albright's Mike Lawry. Albright added a pivotal insurance goal in the 88th to seal the win.
