(ALTOONA, Pa.) – It was a tough day for Wilson as it fell in both games of a doubleheader against Penn State Altoona on Thursday. The Lions exploded offensively in both games while limiting the Phoenix's chances en route to the sweep.
The Basics
Scores: Game 1 – Wilson 3, Penn State Altoona 28
Game 2 – Wilson 4, Penn State Altoona 11
Venue: Stewart Field
Records: Wilson 3-10-1, Penn State Altoona 9-9
How It Happened
- Game 1 quickly went in favor of the Lions who scored in every inning except one. Tyler O'Brien (So., Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) homered in the fifth with Zachary Tyler (FY, Colonia, N.J. / JFK Memorial) on base while Payton Bennett (Jr., Buckhannon, W.Va. / Buckhannon-Upshur / Davis & Elkins) scored after an error following a steal of third base one inning later, but by that time the Lions already had complete control of the game.
- Game 2 saw Wilson strike first as Samuel Martin (Jr., Maugansville, Md. / North Hagerstown / Hagerstown C.C.) scored on a Derek Chavera (FY, Falfurrias, Texas / Falfurrias) ground out, but any momentum that was generated was quickly erased as Altoona posted five inning the first. The hosts kept scoring with 11 runs in five innings.
