Baseball Drops Pair at Bridgewater

(BRIDGEWATER, Va.) – The Wilson baseball team traveled down I-81 to take on ODAC member Bridgewater in a twin bill on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles' offense took control of the game and proved to be too much for the Phoenix to overcome as the hosts took both contests.

The Basics

Scores: Game 1 – Wilson 2, Bridgewater 22 (7 Innings)
Game 2 – Wilson 4, Bridgewater 15 (7 Innings)

Venue: Bridgewater Baseball Field

Records: Wilson 1-7-1, Bridgewater 15-2

How It Happened
  • Game 1 saw the Eagles scored in five of their six innings at the play and got stronger as the game went on. Jordan Stucki (Jr., Costa Mesa, Calif. / Costa Mesa / Greenville) tied the game briefly in the second after he reached on an error and made his way around the bases eventually scoring on a passed ball. After Bridgewater scored a pair in the bottom half, Derek Chavera (FY, Falfurrias, Texas / Falfurrias) drove in Samuel Martin (Jr., Maugansville, Md. / North Hagerstown / Hagerstown C.C.) in the third. The Eagles' battery shut down Wilsons bats the rest of the game.
  • Game 2 saw Martin lead off with a base hit and eventually scoring on a wild pitch before Stucky drove in Garrett Drish (FY, Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck) for a quick 2-0 lead. The momentum didn't last unfortunately as the Eagles' bats were still hot from the previous game and they unloaded for six. They equaled the trend of scoring in all but one inning to take the sweep.
Inside The Numbers
  • Drish had three hits on the day and scored a pair in Game 2. Martin equaled him with two hits and two runs scored in the nightcap as well.
