(SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.) – Wilson dropped both games in a non-conference doubleheader to Dickinson on a sunny Saturday just up the road. The Phoenix hung with the Red Devils, who were technically the hosts for the twin bill, in the opener by falling just by a couple of runs. Game 2 completely belonged to the Red Devils after opening up a large lead after the first two innings.
The Basics

Game 2 – Wilson 1, Dickinson 23 (7 Innings)
Venue: Fairchild Field
Records: Wilson 0-5, Dickinson 4-3
How It Happened (Game 1)
- Dickinson got on the board first after an infield error led to a run in the first inning. The Red Devils added to their lead with a pair of solo homers in the top of the third. Wilson was able to get back into the mix just one inning later as Justin Clapp (Jr., Redondo Beach, Calif. / Redondo Beach) scored on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler O'Brien (So., Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) and Seth Bivens (Sr., Hancock, Md. / Hancock) hit in Cody Valentine (Jr., Fairfield, Pa. / St. Andrews) to make it 3-2. Wilson was able to get base runners on in four of the last five frames, but nobody was able to get past second base. An RBI double in the bottom of the eighth gave Dickinson an insurance run to set up the final score.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- The Phoenix got on the board first with Jermane Miller (Jr., Wilmington, Del. / Alexis I. DuPont) singling to right to score Samuel Martin (Jr., Maugansville, Md. / North Hagerstown), but things quickly went south as the Red Devils answered with six in the bottom of the first. The Dickinson bats stayed hot and provided eight more runs in the second. Three more followed in the third. The Phoenix were limited to two hits the rest of the way.
Inside The Numbers
- Clapp had a solid game in the opener as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Despite taking the loss, Chase Supensky (Sr., Baltimore, Md. / Clarksburg) did well in his second start of the season. He allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.
