Women's Lacrosse Falls In Season Opener To Albright

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The 2026 women's lacrosse season opened up with Wilson being defeated by Albright in non-conference action on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix received an incredible performance out of goalkeeper Kaelyn Goff (Jr., Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) who recorded 22 saves, but the Lions' attack inundated Wilson's back line en route to the victory.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 1, Albright 14

Venue: Robb Sports Complex

Records: Wilson 0-1, Albright 1-0

How It Happened
  • Albright's Riley Basht was the story of the day for the visitors as she opened up the game with three-straight unassisted strikes. Wilson was able to answer after the third as Ellisa Gamby-Mickey (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) won the draw which led to Sadie Fike (Jr., McClure, Pa. / Mifflin County) finding the back of the net on an assist from Alaina Marek (Jr., Bealeton, Va. / Liberty). Unfortunately the chances were limited for the Phoenix from there on out.
  • On the opposite side Albright kept the offensive pressure and Basht added another score to make it 4-1 after the first. The Lions added five more in the second, three in the third, and two in the fourth to complete the scoring.
Inside The Numbers
  • Goff's 22 saves set a new career-high breaking her previous mark of 20 set last year against Marywood. It was the ninth time in her career Goff recorded double-digits in saves. She reached that mark in the first half alone with a baker's dozen.
  • With her 22 saves, Goff has now eclipsed 200 saves for her career.
  • Gamby-Mickey had a strong day defensively with four caused turnovers and two ground balls. She proved effective in the starting circle with two draw controls as well.
  • Zoe Rosen (So., Shepherdstown, W.Va. / Jefferson) led the team with three ground balls.
Up Next
Wilson was scheduled to travel to Trinity Washington on Wednesday, but that game has now been moved to Thursday, April 9. The Phoenix will now prepare for a trip to Williamsport to take on Lycoming next Saturday.
