How It Happened
- Out of the gate, Cedar Crest opened up an 11-3 lead and forced the Blue and White to play catch-up. The Phoenix didn't give up and cut the deficit to four after Michaela Windisch served up an aace to make it 11-7. Kills by Jayda Lichty and Alison Daniels kept Wilson within four on a few occasions, but they could get no closer as the Falcons won the first.
- Wilson stayed with Cedar Crest better at the start of the second. Teams were even through the first 20 points as Pollard downed a kill to make it 10-all before the Falcons answered with five-straight. The visitors carried the momentum to a 21-14 lead that grew to 24-16. A late 5-0 run with kills from Pollard and Abby Moreland along with a Pollard and Ashlynn Babbitt block helped the Phoenix climb back into contention before an error gave the Falcons game point.
- Everything started clicking for the Phoenix in the third. A Lichty ace put Wilson up 3-2 and they were able to stay ahead until a late push by Cedar Crest tied the frame at 22-all. The Phoenix were able to weather the storm as Lichty answered with back-to-back kills. After a service error, Pollard went up for a solo block to give the Phoenix the set and stay alive.
- Momentum stayed with the Blue and White as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead with two kills each from Lichty and Pollard. A Babbitt kill, an ace from Hayden Davidson, and a kill from Sydney Tracey had Wilson up at 20-15 before the Falcons roared back with an 8-0 run. Wilson stayed alive with three consecutive points to tie it at 24-all, and Lichty tied it again at 25, but the Falcons claimed the night on kills from Gabby Manygoats and Kylie Heffner.
