(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The Wilson women's volleyball team ran into a high-octane Washington squad for a midweek showdown and were defeated 3-0.
Abby Moreland (Jr., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) led the Phoenix with five kills, but otherwise there was no answer for a Shorewomen squad that hit .452 for the night.
The Basics
Scores: Wilson 0, Washington 3 (25-8, 25-5, 25-6)
Venue: Gannett Field House
Records: Wilson 0-5, Washington 4-4
How It Happened
- Wilson opened up the night with the advantage as Allyson Garcelon (Sr., Shrewsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) blocked an attack for the first point of the game and laid down a kill shortly after before Washington went on a 7-0 run to take control of the first set. A Moreland kill and a Garcelon ace put the Blue and White back in contention shortly, but the visitors soon went on another run en route to the win. The second and third sets played out in a similar way with the Shorewomen limiting the Phoenix attacks.
Inside The Numbers
- Moreland paced the Phoenix with five kills and added six digs defensively.
- Michaela Windisch (Jr., Westminster, Md. / Catoctin) added 10 digs along the back row.
- Washington was led by Giselle Kleinbussink and Izzy Diehl with nine kills each.
