Chi Alpha Sigma Eclipses Century Mark, Four Added to HOF

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – Another year is in the books with numerous highlights across the board for Wilson Phoenix athletics as every team had a postseason appearance with most having a major record broken. In addition to excelling in the field of competition, the Blue and White also shined in the classroom.

As a result, 18 Phoenix student-athletes were recently inducted into the Alpha Chi chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national collegiate student-athlete honor society. In doing so, Wilson College eclipsed the century mark and now has 101 members in just its fourth year.

In order to be a member, student-athletes must be a junior or senior with a 3.4 cumulative GPA after five completed semesters at Wilson or after two semesters for transfer students. Those who maintain a 3.4 for the rest of their academic studies graduate with cords.

All members were honored at the Phoenix end-of-the-year awards ceremony which was also highlighted by four student-athletes being inducted into the Gwendolyn Jensen Hall of Fame after stellar careers for the Phoenix. The new members are Deah Menedis (Reisterstown, Md. / Franklin), Jade Wolfe (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan), Gary Robertson (Washington, D.C. / Potomac / Bryant & Stratton), and Sage Lague (Fairplay, Md. / Goretti).

Wolfe and Robertson were also recognized as recipients of the Senior Female and Male Athlete of the Year Awards, respectively.

The Lori Frey Award, given to the student-athletes whose extraordinary commitment and dedication which serves as an inspiration to teammates, coaches, and fellow student-athletes across campus, was given to Judi Wolf (Sykesville, Md.) for the women and Vincent Natale (Mt. Airy, Md. / Linganore) for the men.

The Phoenix Award, which acknowledges an athlete that has ignited the fire for their team, was given to Jewels Torres (York, Pa. / West York) for the women and Armani Jones (Chicago, Ill. / Christ The King Prep / Bryant & Stratton) for the men.
First year student-athletes had an incredible debut for the Phoenix this year. Highlighting the class were Katelyn Keller (Orrtanna, Pa. / Gettysburg) and Jackson Wolfe (Abbottstown, Pa. / New Oxford) who won the Rookie of the Year awards for women and men.

Individual awards were also given out for success in the classroom. Allie Cullison (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) received the Chuck Naso Award for the female student-athlete with the highest GPA. Eric Arbogast (Dunansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) was the recipient for the men. The Bill Kalbaugh Award for Academic Excellence, given to the men's basketball player with the highest GPA, was received by Jalen Pierce (Richmond, Va. / Collegiate / Millersville.
