How It Happened
- Defenses controlled the first quarter with only two shots in the frame, both of which went to Ohio Wesleyan. The Bishops started the second quarter strong with five shots and a corner before Wilson saw its first chances with five minutes to go in the half. The first saw Jordan Blizzard (Sr., Wesminster, Md. / Francis Scott Key) have a Grade A chance with just her and the goalkeeper, but the shot ended up going wide left. Kate Seymour (Jr., Churchton, Md. / Southern) followed with a shot on goal which was saved by Bishops keeper Payton Mindel. OWU added to more shots, one of which was saved by Erin Sullivan (So., Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) to give her three in the quarter, before the period ended.
- The Bishops had a fast start in the third quarter with their first two shots going for goals. Emma Wright scored both of them with the first coming by herself and the second being assisted by Alyssa Markell. The Phoenix attempted to answer shortly after as a penalty corner allowed Lizzie Landon (Sr., West Grove, Pa. / Avon Grove) to take a shot only to see it blocked. Seymour added another take less than a minute later. Landon had another chance as time winded down, but that too was blocked.
- The Blue and White kept fighting and saw more chances come in the fourth. Another penalty corner resulted in another blocked shot by Mikayla Petersen (FY, Glen Burnie, Md. / North County) in the early moments. Just over six minutes into the frame, Seymour had a shot that was saved before a penalty stroke was awarded. Landon did the honors, but Mindel guessed correctly and made the save. With under five to go, Mary Powers gave the visitors an insurance goal to set up the final score.
