Abington Too Much For Wilson Women's Hoops

(ABINGTON, Pa.) – Wilson came up short as it looked to knock off Penn State Abington from the unbeaten ranks in the United East on Wednesday. Highlighting the evening for the Phoenix were Allie Cullison (Sr., Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill / Kean), who was among the game's scoring leaders, and Chelcie Forrester (Jr., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg / WVU Potomac State), who picked up yet another double-double with a career-high with 18 rebounds.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 59, Penn State Abington 84

Venue: PS Abington Athletic Building

Records: Wilson 3-11, 2-3 UE; Penn State Abington 9-3, 5-0 UE

How It Happened
  • After a fast start by the Nittany Lions, Wilson climbed back into contention with a Forrester layup as well as a pair of free throws by Forrester and Lae Black (Jr., Laurel, Md. / Meade / Bluefield State) to make it a 9-6 game just over three minutes into the contest. Teams exchanged the next two buckets before Abington finished the frame on a 10-4 run.
  • Wilson was fueled by back-to-back 3-pointers by Kailee Soto (FY, Lancaster, Pa. / Columbia) and Cullison, respectively, in the second to put the score at 24-18. The Nittany Lions were able to push their lead back up to double digits and eventually led by 15 before Cullison drilled another triple to make it 40-28 at halftime.
  • Despite having their highest scoring quarter of the game in the third, the Phoenix were unable to put a dent in the deficit. Abington remained hot and increased its advantage by pulling away in the fourth.
Inside The Numbers
  • Cullison finished a point shy of game-high honors with 16 points. She added four rebounds and two steals to her line as well.
  • Forrester did a lot of work underneath as she pulled down 18 caroms for her third double-double in as many games.
  • Soto had one of her best games of the season as she matched a season-best with 11 points with a pair of treys. She was 3-of-6 overall from the field.
  • Jewels Torres (Jr., York, Pa. / West York) was the catalyst for the offense as she provided six assists on the outing giving her 13 across the last two contests, her best stretch of the season.
Up Next
Wilson will look to get back in the W column with a trip to Phoenixville on Saturday to take on Valley Forge.
