How It Happened
- It was a tight contest for the bulk of the game that didn't see either team lead by double-digits until the fourth quarter. That occurred initially as Wilson closed the third quarter out on a 12-3 run for its largest lead of the game to that point. Jewels Torres (Jr., York, Pa. / West York) started the push with a pair of free throws to tie the game at 31-all while Mackenzie Caldwell-Degnon (So., Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) closed out the frame with a layup and a 41-34 lead.
- Things appeared well for the Phoenix as they opened the fourth with a Laela Robinson (Sr., Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) 3-pointer and a Leah Laubach (FY, Marietta, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) layup put the hosts up a dozen. The Nittany Lions responded with a 12-0 run to tie the game with 4:36 left in regulation, but the Phoenix remained composed and answered Brandywines' push with one of their own. Chelcie Forrester (Jr., Shippensburg, Pa. / WVU Potomac State) got the Phoenix charged up again with a jumper on an assist from Laubach before a steal and layup by Chloe Irving (FY, Martinsburg, W.Va. / Martinsburg) provided more momentum. A Brandywine layup tamed Wilson albeit shortly, before a pair of Irving free throws got the Phoenix back on track. Torres went on a personal tear as she scored eight of the next 10 points to secure the win.
