How It Happened
-
It didn't take long for the Phoenix to get on the scoreboard, and it was the seniors who helped the process as a Falcons' turnover resulted in a Willut ground ball. That translated into a goal by Gibson exactly four minutes into the contest. Ahlgren proceeded to win the ensuing draw control and made it 2-0 55 seconds later on an assist from Emily Young (Jr., Fairfax, Va. / Chantilly). Ahlgren made it 3-0 less than a minute later on a free position attempt. Later Ahlgren found Gibson for another score before Eisenhauer closed the scoring in the first with a free position score of her own.
-
The second quarter started with a milestone marker as Ahlgren's hat trick score gave her 100 for her career. Sage Lague (Jr., Fairplay, Md. / Goretti) added a pair of goals along with scores from Eisenhauer, Gibson, and Ellisa Gamby-Mickey (FY, Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) provided Wilson with an 11-0 lead at the break.
-
Lague remained strong in the second half with goals in the third and fourth. She also assisted Sadie Fike (FY, McClure, Pa. / Mifflin County) in the final frame while Gibson found the back of the net once again to set up the final score.

Inside The Numbers
-
The best defense proved to be WIlson's offense as it controlled possession for most of the day. The Phoenix back line wasn't tested much, but when it was Kienast and Kaelyn Goff (FY, Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) made the stops to record the shutout. Kienast made one in the first half to give her 200 for her career. Goff added three more in the second half.
-
Ahlgren had quite the busy day as she led the team with six points on a hat trick and three assists. Defensively she forced seven turnovers, picked up nine ground balls, and added another nine draw controls
-
Gibson and Lague equaled each other offensively with four goals and an assist each. Lague added two caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Gibson added one each.
-
Young added four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Gamby-Mickey was also busy defensively with four ground balls.
-
The win was the second shutout in program history. The Phoenix also defeated Trinity Washington with a clean sheet on April 3 last season.
