The Basics
Score: Wilson 5, Keystone 0
Venue: Henninger Field
Records: Wilson 15-8, 9-4 Skye; Keytone 19-9, 9-1 Skye
How It Happened
- The Blue and White opened the scoring with a pair of hits and stealthy base running in the bottom of the second. With two outs Kade Linton (So., Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) singled through the left side before he stole second and third. Haden Hoff (Sr., Westminster, Md. / Westminster) followed up with a base hit up the middle for the 1-0 lead.
- The Phoenix added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Hits by Harry Middlebrooks (FY, Bel Air, Md. / Archbishop Curley) and Jordan Daphney (Jr., Countryside, Fla. / Countryside) along with Jordan McKenzie (Sr., White Plains, Md. / North Point) getting hit by a pitch quickly loaded the bases. Kodi Deskins (FY, Tampa, Fla. / Clearwater Central Catholic) then brought in Middlebrooks with a base on balls while Peyton Taylor (Sr., Worton, Md. / Kent County) hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Daphney.
- The Giants threatened in the sixth and seventh, but the Phoenix were able to get out of both jams unscathed. Keystone left the bases full in the sixth and two more were stranded in the seventh. The Giants did connect on a few occasions in hopes of adding more offense, but Taylor did well to track down three fly balls in strong winds in right field.
- Wilson was able to get a pair of insurance runs in the eighth. Tyler Smith (FY, Crofton, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) led off the frame with a double to right center. A wild pitch allowed him to get to third to set up Linton who hit a sacrifice fly to center for a 4-0 lead. Hoff set up the next run after getting hit by a pitch, moving to second on an error, and third on a Middlebrooks base hit. Daphney helped Hoff go the last 90 on a pop-up sac fly to left.
Inside The Numbers

- Daphney paced the offense with a 3-for-4 afternoon, a run scored, and an RBI. Hoff and McKenzie also reached base three times as both recorded two hits and were issued a walk. Hoff also scored once while hitting another in.
- Eight of the nine players in the lineup recorded a hit.
