How It Happened
- Kills from Ryan Koontz (FY, York Haven, Pa. / Red Land) and Wyatt Tribett (So., Myersville, Md. / Middletown) helped the Phoenix open a 5-3 lead to start the contest, but the Chargers countered with a 5-0 run to take the lead and overtake momentum. The Blue and White countered with four of six to climb back within three with attacks by Koontz, Saria Alshaikhali (Sr., Jeddah, Saudi Arabia / Hayfield), and Tribett to make the score 15-12. That was close as the Phoenix could get, however, as LBC bounced back with the next four points and continued on to take the first set.
- The Chargers lived up to their nickname and raced out to a 7-1 start to open the second. Wilson attempted to get back into the contest with a kill from Koontz and a block by Demetrius Simmons (So., Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg), but the Chargers came right back with a 6-0 run. An Alshaikhali kill and a Tribett block gave Wilson one last chance to get back into the set, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
- The hosts remained strong with a 6-0 start to the third. Tribett gave Wilson its first point with a kill which rolled into a 4-1 rally as the Phoenix looked to tie. LBC remained too strong and eventually went up 16-6 before closing the evening with a 6-1 run to complete the match.
