How It Happened
- After splitting the first six points in the opening set, Menedis opened a 6-1 run to take control with a kill and capped it with an ace. After the Ravens took the next point, the Blue and White reeled off the next six to go up double digits. Rosemont wasn't able to recover and Wilson finished the set on a 5-0 run with two Menedis kills, an Allyson Garcelon (Jr., Shrewsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) ace, and two Garcelon kills.
- The Ravens went up 3-1 early in the second, but it didn't last long as the Phoenix went on an 8-0 run to take control once again. Niki Schussler (Sr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) opened the rally with a kills and followed up by serving an ace, her first of two in the run. The Ravens stayed within four as late as 13-9, but once again the Phoenix stayed hot and closed out Game 2 with a 6-0 run. Menedis had three kills down the stretch while Grace Owens (So., Winchester, Va. / James Wood) scored the game point on a kill.
- Going into the third set, the run at the end of the second built into an 17-0 run as Wilson went up 11-0. Menedis and Schussler each had three kills to help the fast start. Rosemon eventually cut the deficit down to four at 16-12. However Wilson was able to finish the day on the strength of a 9-1 run. Abby Moreland (So., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) and Schussler both had three kills down the stretch.
Inside The Numbers
- Menedis was nearly unstoppable as she tallied her 14 kills on 22 attempts for a hitting percentage of .545. She was strong on the receiving end as well with seven digs.
- Leading the match in digs was Moreland who chalked up 14. It was a big reason why the Ravens were held to single digits in kills.
- Of the 75 points over the three sets, Wilson was responsible for 52.0 of them.
- Michaela Windisch (So., Westminster, Md. / Catoctin) had one of her best days of the season with 30 assists. Garcelon added seven.
