How It Happened
- The first quarter action began with a fast break lay-up off a steal, both recorded by Torres. Stricek made the next basket off a second chance lay-up. The next possession started Wilson's stellar night behind the arc as Torres knocked down a 3-pointer with a defender closing out and committed a foul that allowed Torres to convert a rare four-point play. Yaya Cannon (Sr., Lancaster, Pa. / Elizabethtown) joined the action converting a traditional and-one to stretch the lead to 10. Stricek did most of the early scoring as she contributed four lay-ups on the next five scoring possessions. The quarter ended as Lae Black (So., Laurel, Md. / Meade) made a lay-up of her own stretching the lead to a sizable 16 points.
- Caldwell-Degnon opened the second quarter scoring as she made a lay-up followed up by a pair of free throws. Torres then banged home another trey and two-point jumper on the next possession. Wilson eventually went on a 9-3 run highlighted made jumpers by Cannon, Kate Seymour (Fy., Churchton, Md./ Southern), and Stricek to close out the half that.
- While Rosemont began the second half by scoring off a three-point attempt, a Wilson steal capped off by a Seymour fastbreak jumper kicked off a healthy 16-0 run. Defensively the Phoenix held the Ravens to a quiet seven points in the quarter.
- The fourth quarter stored a barrage of triples that began off a Black 3-pointer early in the quarter. Cullison then caught fire and was responsible for four additional bonus bombs. Cullison notched a total of 14 points in the frame that helped stretch the lead to a game high of 57 points. The Phoenix ended their scorching night as Gia Ryan (Fy., Carlisle, Pa./ Carlisle) made the final bucket of the game sending Wilson home with a win pushing them back to .500 on the season.
Inside The Numbers
- While Wilson dominated almost every facet of the game, it was especially noticeable in its field goal percentage where the Phoenix made 52.7% (39-of-74) of their attempts on the night. It's the third time in the last four meetings that Wilson has shot at least 52.7% against the Ravens after they shot 55.9% and 55.6% in games against Rosemont last season.
- Of course a big reason for the high marks was the result of the starting five who went a combined 24-for-41. The trio of Stricek, Cannon and Torres alone were 17-for-23.
- Torres led the Phoenix with 18 points after she went 7-for-9 overall from the field. She was a perfect 3-for-3 from range and dished out six assists in the process. Defensively she was sound with four steals added to her line.
- Stricek finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. She reached that achievement by halftime as she tallied 15 points and 11 boards in the opening frame. She finished the game 8-of-11 from the field.
- Cullison added 16 points with four 3-pointers with 14 points alone in the final quarter.
- Caldwell-Degnon rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Blue and White with 11 markers.
- Overall Wilson made nine treys on the night. It's the most in a single game for the Phoenix who last made that many with 11 at Christendom on February 10, 2020.
- The inside game also completely belonged to the Phoenix who outscored the Ravens 54-18 in the paint. Wilson also held a 52-29 edge in the rebounding department.
- The 93 points are the most points scored in a regulation game since scoring 127 against Trinity Washington on January 16, 2019. It's the most in a regulation game against a conference opponent in program history.
- This is the fifth consecutive win for Wilson in the series with Rosemont.
