(WESTMINSTER, Md.) – The Wilson women's volleyball team dropped contests against Gallaudet and Franciscan at McDaniel on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened (Match 1 vs. Gallaudet)
- Wilson split the opening six points with Abby Moreland (Fy., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) helping the Blue and White reach the 3-3 split with a kill before the Bison started to push ahead. An 8-2 run gave Gallaudet an 11-5 lead. The Phoenix were able to cut the deficit back to five as late as 17-12 after an ace by Addie Hebert (Fy., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg), but the Bison closed the set on an 8-1 run.
- The Phoenix looked to even the match in the second and jumped out to a 3-1 lead after a kill by Deah Menedis (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian). A block by Allyson Garcleon (So., Shrewsbury, Susquehannock) and Menedis along with a Bison error followed to help Wilson go up 5-3. Wilson was tied as late as 8-all after a Moreland kill, but the Bison jutted ahead with a 12-1 run en route to a two-set lead.
- Wilson had its best start in the third and led as late as 20-18 after an ace from Grace Owens 9XX). But the Bison attack eventually responded and went on a 7-0 run to close out the match.
How It Happened (Match 2 vs. Franciscan)
- The Barons started out fast and led 14-4 early. A Moreland kill and a Barons error helped make it 15-7 in favor of Franciscan. A 5-0 run capped by a Moreland kill made it 22-13 Barons, but the rally fell short as Franciscan went up 1-0.
- Another fast start gave the Barons a 7-1 run out of the gate. Wilson was able to get within two on multiple occasions, but no closer as the Phoenix went down two sets.
- After Franciscan took a 7-4 lead to start the third, a 4-0 run by the Blue and White gave Wilson its lone lead of the contest. The Phoenix went ahead and became tied as late as 9-all before the Barons took the lead for good on their way to the sweep.
Inside The Numbers
- Menedis led the match with the Bison with seven kills. She was even better in the match with Franciscan as she put down nine kills
- Addie Hebert (Fy., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) led the defense with 15 digs in both contests.
