How It Happened (Game 1 vs. Albertus Magnus)
- The Falcons opened up the scoring with a run in the first, but Wilson looked poised to answer in the bottom of the second. Riley Henry (So., Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) and Haley Privett (Jr., Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Magnet) led off the frame with base hits before Ashley Stevens (So., Valencia, Calif. / Valencia) loaded the bases after a fielder's choice with another single. Unfortunately the Phoenix weren't able to capitalize and left the bases full as the inning ended on a fly out to center.
- The Falcons took control in the third inning as they put up seven runs to take an 8-0 lead. They extended it to 9-0 with another run in the fourth.
- Wilson kept fighting and avoided the shutout with a run in the fifth. Hayden Sturgeon (Fy., Indiana, Pa. / Penn Manor) led off with a pinch-hit single and Alyssa Wenger (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) moved to second after re-entering before a walk was issued to Haiden Brookens (Jr., Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Magnet). Wenger scored on the next play as she took advantage by a Falcons' infield error, but Wilson was unable to get any closer.
How It Happened (Game 2 vs. Worcester State)
- The Lancers initially took the lead with a three-run second inning, but Wilson was able to respond in the bottom half of the frame. Makenna Snodgrass (Sr., Flagstaff, Ariz. / Flagstaff) and Henry led off the inning with a single and double, respectively. Madison Briggs (Fy., Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain) followed up with a pop fly that allowed Snodgrass to advance home.
- The third inning gave the Phoenix problems again as the Lancers plated seven to make the score 10-1. The Phoenix were able to get one back in the fourth as Snodgrass scored on a Lancers error, but could get no closer.
Inside The Numbers
- Wenger, Sturgeon, Henry, Privett, and Stevens all recorded hits in the opener for the Phoenix.
- Snodgrass provided most of the offense in the second game as she scored both runs and was 1-for-2 at the plate. Henry provided the other hit for the Blue and Black.
