How It Happened
- Rosemont opened up the game with the first points, but Wilson immediately responded on its first trip down the floor to tie the game to spark an 11-0 run to take control. Yaya Cannon (Sr., Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) started the rally with the first five points while Naomi Hanton (Sr., Bristow, Va. / Patriot), Baylen Snyder (Sr., Dover, Pa. / Dover), and Samira Murphy (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va. / Great Bridge Christian) also got into the mix with makes. The Phoenix led by as many as 14 in the frame before Rosemont closed with a couple of baskets to make the score 22-12 heading into the second. Wilson continued to get stronger and increased its lead as the period went on. A Cannon layup with 63 seconds left in the half put the Phoenix up 43-23 at the half.
- Midway through the third quarter Madison Ross (Sr., New Oxford, Pa. / New Oxford) hit a 3-pointer to make the score 50-27 giving Wilson its largest lead of the game at that time. Rosemont responded with a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 14, but the Ravens couldn't get closer than that the rest of the way. The Phoenix were able to build their lead back up and Adrianna Stricek (Fy., Harrisburg, Pa. / Trinity) helped put them back up by 21 as she closed the third with a pair of layups.
- Wilson faced little trouble in the fourth quarter. Although the Ravens closed within 17, a Murphy jumper put Wilson back up 23 at 71-48 with 4:52 left in the game.
Inside The Numbers
- Double double machines Murphy and Stricek accomplished the fete once again with identical numbers of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Both were well-rounded with assists as Murphy dished out seven and Stricek chalked up five. Murphy added defensive pressure with four steals as well. Murphy finished the game 6-of-12 while Stricek shot 7-of-10 from the field.
- Joining them in double figures were Cannon and Bry Hicks (So., Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) with 13 points each. Cannon was 6-for-10 while Hicks went 5-for-10.
- Overall Wilson shot 55.9% from the field for a new season-best. The previous mark was also set against the Ravens as the Phoenix shot 55.6% in a 92-61 win at home back on January 14.
- Wednesday's game against the Ravens was the best Wilson has shot in a game since shooting 59.0% in a record-breaking performance in a 120-point victory over Trinity Washington on January 16, 2019.
