How It Happened
- Wilson scored early and often as they jumped out to a 25-4 lead after the first quarter. They never trailed as Cannon and Stricek sparked the offense for 16 points in the frame. Cannon was 4-for-5 from the field and added a free throw for nine points in the opening 10 minutes while Stricek went a perfect 3-for-3 with a foul shot for seven. Overall the Phoenix were 11-of-21 in the first and held the Patriots to a 2-of-15 mark from the field.
- Valley Forge's offense picked up more in the second, but it wasn't enough to catch up with the surging Phoenix who shot 50% once again. Cannon and Stricek both added six points in the frame alone. Wilson also included an 11-0 run to put them up 40-8, and eventually led by as many as 35 before going into halftime up 48-18.
- The offense remained hot in the third quarter while the defense limited the Patriots to single digits once again. The result ended up being a 20-6 quarter to put Wilson up 68-24 heading into the fourth.
Inside The Numbers
- Cannon had her best game of the season as she led all scorers with a season-best 19 points. She was 9-for-11 to set new season bests for shots and attempts as well.
- Stricek finished with 16 points and shot an impressive 7-for-9 from the field. She was two rebounds shy of recording her ninth double-double of the season. The eight boards led the Phoenix who controlled the glass by a 40-37 margin.
- They were the only two players in double figures, but the Phoenix received a strong contribution from the rest of the team as 11 different players reached the scoring column. As a result the Wilson bench outscored Valley Forge's by a count of 40-18.
- Valley Forge committed 30 turnovers which translated into 38 points for the Phoenix. Of those, 18 were the result of Phoenix steals. Laela Robinson (Fy., Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) led the team in that department with six swipes on the night. Cannon was one behind her with five.
- Wilson did well distributing the ball as the Phoenix totaled 23 assists in the game. Nine different players attributed to the number which ties the second-most recorded in a game this season. The other time they recorded that many also came against Valley Forge.
