Schussler Hits Season Best as Phoenix Fall To Devils

(CARLISLE, Pa.) – The Wilson women's volleyball team played its final non-conference match before CSAC competition with local rival Dickinson College. Unfortunately the Phoenix were downed in straight sets heading into Saturday's league opener.

The Basics

Scores: Wilson 0, Dickinson 3 (25-11, 25-12, 25-15)

Venue: Kline Life/Sports Center

Records: Wilson 0-14, Dickinson 7-5

How It Happened
  • Wilson split the opening four points as kills from Niki Schussler (So., Chambersburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) and Deah Menedis (So., Reisterstown, Md. / Franklin) evened the game at 2-2. Another kill, this time by Allyson Garcelon (Fy., Shrewsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) cut the deficit to 5-3 after three consecutive points by the Red Devils, but the hosts went on a 9-0 run to take control of the set.
  • After Dickinson raced out to an 8-3 lead to start the second, three Red Devils errors put the Phoenix back within striking distance down 10-6, but Dickinson wouldn't allow them to get any closer. A late rally in the third set was capped by a kill from Schussler, but the Devils quickly responded to take the game and sweep the Phoenix.
Inside The Numbers
  • Schussler had one of her finest matches of the season with a team-best seven kills on 16 attempts. She was attributed just one error which gave her a season-best attack percentage of .375.
  • Schussler also added a team-best three aces to give her double-digits in points for the night.
  • Menedis was right behind her with six kills.
  • Garcelon and Jenna Dixon (Fy., California, Pa. / California) set up the attack with seven and five assists, respectively.
  • Alexis Buckley (So., Millsboro, Del. / Indian River) led the defensive side with seven digs. Schussler added five.
