CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's basketball team resumed conference play this afternoon against the Rosemont College Ravens. The Phoenix (6-5, 5-1 CSAC) went on to beat the Ravens (2-9, 2-5 CSAC) after a monster fourth-quarter run to push them to a final score of 69-50.
How It Happened: The first quarter was low-scoring for both teams. Wilson scored 10 of their 12 points at the free-throw line, while the other two came off a layup from junior
Samira Murphy (Virginia Beach, VA., Great Bridge Christian). In the second quarter, Murphy scored the team's lone three-pointer of the half. The Phoenix closed out the first half up by five with a score of 30-25. Junior
Yaya Cannon (Lancaster, Pa., Elizabethtown College) closed out the third quarter with three consecutive layups to put Wilson in the lead 43-39. In the fourth quarter, the Phoenix offense pushed a 14-0 scoring run to extend their lead to 61-47. Sophomore
Krystal Kienast (Purcellville, VA, Loudon Valley HS) closed out the game with a layup to bring the game to its final score of 69-50.
Inside the Box Score: Yaya Cannon led the team in points, steals, and assists earning 16 points, four steals, and seven assists.
Samira Murphy earned herself another double-double for the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the game.
