CHAMBERSBURG, Pa- The Wilson College Phoenix faced off against Sweet Briar College today in Sweet Briar, Virginia. The Phoenix fell to the Vixens with a final score of 2-1.
How It Happened: The Phoenix started the first half strong by securing the first shot of the game coming in the fifth minute of action. Sweet Briar responded with their first shot coming just five minutes later. After a rigorous battle, Sweet Briar managed to break the tie and lead the Vixen to a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute with a shot from Dominique Cunningham, and the assist by Kaitlynn Rupert.  Sweet Briar's second goal of the match came minutes later with a shot from Kaitlynn Rupert managing to find the back of the net. The action continued into the second half with
Juliann Winkler (Dingmans Ferry, PA., Delaware Valley), making two early saves to keep the Phoenix in the game. The Phoenix were able to muster up a goal cutting the lead to 2-1 with a goal fromÂ
Morgan Wineburg (Phoenixville, PA., Phoenixville), in the 66th minute of play. In the remaining minutes, the Phoenix fought hard came up short against the Vixen falling 2-1 at the end of the 90th minute.Â
