Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors Blank Phoenix

Williamsport, Pa. - The Wilson College women's soccer team continued the non-conference portion of their schedule this afternoon at Lycoming College. The Warriors (6-1) shut out the Phoenix (1-4) by a fonal score of 7-0.

How It Happened: The Phoenix defense was under fire from the start of the match and continued to be throughout. Just three minutes into the contest, the Warriors connected on a goal by Bridgette Maaluom for the early 1-0 lead. A few minutes later, the Phoenix tried to respond as freshman Katie Riley (Mt. Airy, MD, Urbana) fired a shot that missed high and to the left. Riley's shot attempt would be the only one for the Phoenix for the entire match. For the remainder of the first half, the Warriors would add three more goals as Maaluom connected again and then assisted on a goal by Kylie Magaro, while Bella Green also added a goal in the opening half as the hosts took a 4-0 lead into halftime. The second half continued to be controlled by the Warriors as they tacked on three more goals to push the final score to 7-0.

Inside the Box Score: The Warriors held a 37-1 advantage in shots including a 23-0 edge in shots on goal. The hosts also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks while the Phoenix corralled 15 saves. Freshman Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, MD, Linganore High School) tallied 10 saves while senior Juliann Winkler (Dingmans Ferry, PA., Delaware Valley)recorded 5 saves.

Up Next: Wilson will be in action at home on Wednesday as they host Trinity University at 3:00 p.m.
