FREDERICK, Md. - The Wilson College men's basketball team was back in action at the MMI Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Hood College, against Carnegie Mellon University. The Phoenix (0-2, 0-0 CSAC) fell to the Tartans (1-1, 0-0 UAA) with a final score of 86-69.

How It Happened: Wilson scored the first basket of the game in the first 15 seconds of action off a layup by junior Antonio Bussey (Aiken, SC, ). The Phoenix and the Tartans were neck and neck for the start of the first half until Wilson reached a stalling point at 25. Carnegie Mellon found 15 points during this time bring the score to 40-25.  Junior Daeshaun Johnson (Waldorf, MD, St. Charles HS) broke the Phoenix dry spell after being fouled on a fast break and making both free throws to bring the score to 40-27. After a quick time out by the Phoenix, Wilson's offense started to heat back up cutting the Tartans lead to two with the score now being 42-40, with 30 seconds remaining in the half. After two free throws for the Tartans, the score going into the half stood at 44-40.  At the start of the second half, Wilson again found the first basket of the half off a layup by senior Adrian Thomas (Germantown, MD., Northwest HS). Turnovers plagued the Phoenix offense which the Tartans capitalized on to expand the gap to a final score of 86-69.
