Phoenix Fall To Lions

HARRISBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's basketball team (0-3, 0-0 CSAC) tipped off tonight away at Penn State Harrisburg (3-1) in a non-conference match up. The Phoenix fell to the Lions with a final score of 75-54. 

How It Happened: Wilson opened the game with a quick jumper by senior Baylen Snyder (Dover, PA, Dover Area) just 15 seconds into the game, earning the first basket of the game. Junior Samira Murphy (Virginia Beach, VA., Great Bridge Christian) earned the team a quick six points to end the quarter putting the Phoenix on top 16-12.  Murphy continued to shoot well for the Phoenix into the second quarter extending the Phoenix lead to 31-23 going into the half. In the third quarter, Wilson continued to hold their lead until Penn State Harrisburg cut the Phoenix lead to 1 after six minutes. The Lions continued their offensive push and would lead the Phoenix 45-41 going into the final quarter. The Lions' offensive continued to score in the fourth quarter and pushed past the Phoenix with a final score of 75-54. 

Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix  outshot the Lions inside the three point line 39.2% to 39.0%, while the Lions however outshot the Phoenix 38.1% to 21.4% from beyond the arc.  Juniors Samira Murphy and Amanda Smida (Landenberg, Pa., ) led the team in scoring with 22 points and 11 points. Murphy played a complete game today with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 1 block on the night. 

Up Next:  The Phoenix will have their first home game of the season this Saturday, November 20 at 4:00 p.m. against Eastern Mennonite University (2-1, 0-0 ODAC).
