CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - This afternoon the Wilson College Phoenix (2-10-1, 2-4-1 CSAC) squared off against conference opponent, Cairn University (10-2-2, 5-0-1 CSAC). The Phoenix fell with a final score of 2-0.
How It Happened: This game tested the Wilson defense as Cairn was hungry on offense, having the first opportunity on frame within two minutes of kick-off. The Highlanders found their first in the 17th minute of play. The Phoenix tried to respond but still had to play a more defensive-minded game as Cairn had three more shots in the half. The second half was no different for the Phoenix, who continued to battle on defense. Wilson's defense handled the difficult task of dealing with nine shots and five corners in the second half. The Highlanders, however, scored their second of the game off of a penalty kick late in the 85th minute of the game.
Inside the Box Score: Senior goalkeeper
Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) had a total of six saves and other key touches to keep the score 2-0. The Phoenix defense fought a hard battle to keep Cairn's 16 shots to only allow two to find the back of the net.
Up Next: This was the final game for the Wilson College Phoenix ending the regular season, 2-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
