CHAMBERSBURG, Pa,- The Wilson College Phoenix (4-11, 3,2 CSAC) had another non-conference matchup against the Delaware Valley Aggies (2-12,0-6 MAC) this morning at 11:00 a.m. The Phoenix powered through two close sets to go on and win the match 3-0.
How It Happened: The first set saw a lot of back and forth action between the Phoenix and the Aggies. It was point-for-point at the beginning of the set but, Wilson found a few runs where the Aggies couldn't respond. The Phoenix brought the game to a score of 24-16 towards the end of the match and Delaware Valley tried to rally and earned five more points before Wilson secured the 25-21 victory. Set number two also was a very tight set. Wilson started the set going point for point before earning four points to build a lead, however, the Aggies answered with four of their own and kept the set close. Towards the end of the set, Wilson and Delaware Valley found themselves tied at 21. The Phoenix scored two, bringing the score to 23-21, and went back and forth until Wilson secured the 25-23 win. The third set was all Wilson with a final score of 25-13. Senior Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) services brought the team to an early lead of 6-0, she also helped pushed the Phoenix to a 24-12 lead late in the set.
Inside the Box Score: Posiulai was a force to be reckoned with on both the offensive and defensive ends ending the match leading the team in aces (6), assists (18), and had the second-most kills (8). Leading the team in kills and digs, was senior Tia Jones (Springfield, VA., Lake Braddock), recording 17 kills and four digs. Fifth-year Sierra Hill (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown) also recorded four digs in the match and had four aces.
