ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Wilson College women's basketball team took to the road where they faced off against the Falcons of Cedar Crest College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matchup. The Phoenix (4-17, 2-13 CSAC) took down the Falcons in a thrilling game by a final score of 62-60.
How It Happed: Cedar Crest started the game on an 11-1 run before sophomore
Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) ended the stretch with a layup in the paint. Junior
Michaela Singer (Annville, PA., Annville-Cleona) followed that up with a three-pointer before
Posiulai added back-to-back layups that brought the score to 10-11. Wilson would enter the second quarter trailing, 13-11.

Posiulai got things started with a layup while
Singer and freshman
Samira Murphy (Virginia Beach, VA., Great Bridge Christian) both added layups. The Falcons rallied back and eventually tied the game up at 21 apiece with just under three minutes left in the half. The two teams continued to battle as they evened the game up a total of five times in this quarter alone. Wilson entered halftime leading by a score of 24-22.
Cedar Crest tied the game up at 24 to open up the third quarter, but freshman
Ta'Niya Kees (Baltimore, MD., Our Lady of Mount Carmel School) responded by earning three the hard way with an and-one layup that put the Phoenix back ahead by three. Later on, the Falcons were able to jump ahead after knocking down a three.
Kees, however, answered right back by scoring on the next three Wilson possessions, that included a layup, two foul shots, and another and-one basket. Shortly after, senior
Jordyn Day (Richmond, VA., Varina) added a three that brought the score to 38-32 under three minutes left. The Phoenix would head into the final quarter of action still ahead, 41-36.
Cedar Crest came out with a vengeance to start the fourth and eventually cut the Wilson lead to just two points. But, the Phoenix stood strong and extended their lead to seven with points coming from
Kees, who drained two layups, and
Day, who connected on an and-one layup. The Falcons made it close but Wilson was able to walk away with a victory as they defeated Cedar Crest by a final score of 62-60.
Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix finished shooting 36% from the floor while they held their opponent to 29%.
Kees led the charge for Wilson, she finished with a career-high 25 points and nine rebounds.
Murphy followed with 12 points and 7 boards while
Singer,
Day, and
Posiulai each tallied 8 points.
Up Next: The Phoenix will get set to take on the Giants of Keystone College (17-5, 15-0 CSAC) on Saturday, February 15, at 1:00 pm as the continue CSAC play.
