Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Aggies Edge Phoenix in O.T.


DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- The Wilson men's soccer team hit the road yesterday afternoon for a nonconference match against the Delaware Valley Aggies. Wilson (1-3) fell to the Aggies (2-1) by a score of 1-0 in a hard-fought overtime battle.

How It Happened: The first half saw little action on the offensive end from either side, as the two teams combined for just two shots in the period. Victor Ortiz (Caguas, Puerto Rico, Ana G. Mendez University System) had the lone shot for Wilson, missing left of the net. 

The second half was more of the same from the two offenses. The Aggies produced five shots in the half, two of which were snagged by Phoenix goalie Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, Pa., Cumberland Valley Christian). Wilson, again, mustered just one shot in the second half as the two teams ended regulation play tied at 0-0. 

Eight minutes into extended play the Aggies took the only shot of overtime and it was the only shot they would need, finding the back of the net to secure a 1-0 victory over the Phoenix. 

Inside the Box Score: Shots were 7-2 in favor of the Aggies with shots on goal being 3-1 also in favor of the hosts. Victor Ortiz and Oliver Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) registered the only shots for the Phoenix while Andrew Hetzer picked up two saves on the day. 

Up Next: The Phoenix will head to Waynesburg University on Monday for another nonconference match beginning at 6:00 p.m.
