Potter Pitches Perfect Game as Phoenix Soar over Falcons

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College softball team faced the Falcons of Cedar Crest College earlier today in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader. The Phoenix (20-6-2, 10-0 CSAC) swept the Falcons (14-21, 6-4 CSAC) in both games by scores of 8-0 and 11-1.

Game 1: Junior Megan Potter (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown) got the start in the circle for Wilson in game one as she went on to retire the side in order to start the game. In the bottom of the first inning, the Phoenix offense would come alive in a hurry.

Freshman Jessica Kosheba (Marietta, Pa., Donegal) got the scoring started as she slapped an RBI double into center field. A few batters later, junior Jennifer Cail (Lisle, IL, Lisle) drove in two more runs as she doubled to left. The next two batters, sophomore Meghan Bradley (Warrington, PA., Central Bucks South) and freshman Chloe Perrin (Milton, Pa., Milton), both added runs on groundouts. Lastly, Kosheba came up to bat again in the inning and drove in two more runs on a single to right field. Altogether, the Wilson offense was able to score seven runs on five hits and three errors in the bottom of the first, making the score 7-0 after one inning of play.

Potter continued to deal from the mound as she shut down the Cedar Crest offense. Later on, in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Phoenix were able to add one more run. This time Perrin doubled to center field that drove home Bradley, giving Wilson an 8-0 victory.

Inside the Box Score: Potter dominated the game as she went on to pitch a perfect game, her first in her career, giving up no runs and no hits on no errors. Game 2: Potter got the nod in the second game as she got out of the top first inning with nothing on the scoreboard. The Phoenix offense would continue to back her up as freshman Taylor Durant (Woodinville, Wash., Monroe) was able to drive in a run in the bottom half of the inning, tipping the score to 1-0.

Later on, in the second inning, sophomore Jenna Carty (Chambersburg, Pa., Greencastle-Antrim) was able to launch a two-run blast over the center field wall that pushed Wilson further in front, 3-0. The bats would come alive again, this time in the bottom of the third inning. Durant got things started with an RBI single to right center. The next batter, Cail, would drive her home as she was able to reach base off an error. Buzard and sophomore Katey Roth (Lebanon, PA., Lebanon) were able to keep things going as they both were able to earn an RBI after each was hit by a pitch.
