Phoenix Fall in Postseason Play

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College men's basketball team faced off against the Ravens of Rosemont College tonight in the semifinals of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs. The Phoenix (14-12, 9-3 CSAC) fell to the Ravens (14-12, 8-4 CSAC) by a score of 113-79.

How It Happened: Junior Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Texas, Forest Park) and sophomore Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn) got things started for Wilson in the opening minutes and helped bring the score to 5-4 in favor of Rosemont. The Ravens then jumped on a 21-5 run that brought the score to 26-9 with 13 minutes left in the first half. Senior Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) helped end the Wilson drought with a three-point shot that was way beyond the arc. The Phoenix would gain some momentum and cut the deficient to 10 points but the Ravens would answer right back by going on 12-point run, extending the score to 34-16. Later on in the quarter, Bean was able to knock down a three off a Frazier assist and then follow it up with a steal and fast break layup. Rosemont would close out the first half leading 55-32.

Coming into the second half, Wilson looked determined and ready to swing the momentum. Bean got things started by being able to sink a layup where he was fouled and then knocked down the foul shot that followed, completing the three-point play. Later in the half, Bean was able to come up with a steal and dish the ball to Powell  who added the layup, bringing the score to 57-38 in the opening minutes. The Phoenix struggled to stop the Ravens offense, who continued to score. Rosemont would go on the win the game by a final score of 113-79.

Inside the Box Score: Bean led Wilson with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Frazier finished with 13 while senior Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) and Powell both rounded the night off with 10 each. The Phoenix finished shooting 34% from the floor while their opponents would finish their night shooing 58% from the floor including shooting 48% from beyond the arc.
