Women's Volleyball Edged in CSAC Semifinals

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Wilson College women's volleyball team traveled to take on the Falcons of Cedar Crest College in the Semifinals of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs. The Phoenix (13-11, 6-3 CSAC) were defeated by the Falcons (14-9, 8-1 CSAC) by a score of three sets to none with scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-18. 

How It Happened: Cedar Crest started the first set on a 7-2 run but Wilson was able to rally back and tie the set up at 12-12 with an ace coming from junior Sierra Hill (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown). The Falcons pushed the score back in their favor at 16-12 and would never look back as they would close out first set, 25-19.

Cedar Crest was able to jump on another run and push the score to 10-4, early in the second set. The Phoenix battled back and cut the deficit to just four points, with the score at 16-11, but the Falcons would finish on a 9-4 run and take the set at 25-15. 

in the final set, Wilson took off on a 9-4 run with points coming from Hill, freshman Anika Eigen-Zucchi (Washington, D.C., St. Johns College High School), and sophomore Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI, University Laboratory School). Both teams would battle as there would be six ties and five lead changes in this set alone. The Phoenix hung in there but could not hang on as they would drop this set, 25-18.

Inside the Box Score: Wilson finished with 24 kills on 114 attempts against 18 errors for a hitting percentage of .053 while their opponent had 37 kills on 112 attempts against 11 errors for a hitting percentage of .232. Eigen-Zucchi led both teams with 13 kills while Posiulai finished with nine. Hill went on to tally three aces while freshman Jenna Mongold (Mercersburg, PA., James Buchanan) finished with 20 assists and 12 digs. 

Up Next: This concludes the season for the Phoenix. This season marks a five-win improvement from the 2018 season.
