CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The women's basketball team of Wilson College faced off against the visiting Falcons of Cedar Crest College this evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game. The Phoenix (6-5, 2-3) defeated the Falcons (3-11, 2-3) by a final score of 64-46.

How It Happened: Wilson started the game out hot, going on a 9-0 run to start the game.  The Phoenix run was fulled by big time shots from seniors Kai Wyatt (Baltimore, Md., Md Acad Tech & Hlth Sci) and Lindsey Purvis (Fort Myers, Fla., South Fort Myers) and a three-pointer from sophomore Michaela Singer (Annville, Pa., Annville-Cleona). Wilson would continue to expand their lead and close out the first quarter leading 14-6. Wyatt and Purvis would continue to rack up buckets in the second quarter as they would help extend their lead to ten points. Freshman L'Shana Cobey (Silver Spring, Md., Montgomery Blair) was also able to find the bottom of the net after she was able to gather her own rebound and connect on the put-back basket. The Phoenix would enter halftime leading by 11 points, with the score being 29-18.

Kai Wyatt would continue scoring in the second half as she was able to connect on Wilson's first shots in the quarter. The Phoenix had a lot of players involved in this one as freshman Michaela Singer (Annville, Pa., Annville-Cleona) helped extend the Wilson lead to 16 points as she connected on a fastbreak jumper in the paint. Going into the final quarter of play, the Phoenix held the lead by 17 points, 51-34. To start off the fourth quarter, senior Amber Watkins (Honesdale, Pa, Honesdale) would step back and connect on a shot from beyond the arc that would help expand the Wilson lead. The Phoenix defense came up big in this quarter, as they did all game, and held the Falcons to just ten points. Wilson would go on to win by a final score of 64-46.
