Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Phoenix Conquer Cavaliers, 102-91

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Phoenix men's basketball team returned to Juniata College this afternoon for the consolation game of the Doc Greene Tournament. The Phoenix (3-7, 1-1 CSAC) took on the Cabrini University Cavaliers (2-7, 0-1 AEC) and came out on top by defeating the Cavaliers, 102-91.

How It Happened: The Phoenix, looking to rebound from a tough loss in last night's game, started the game on a 17-2 run. Senior Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) had 10 of the 17 points during the run to give Wilson some early momentum. The Phoenix extended their lead to 26-4 after three consecutive three-pointers from Adams, Zachary Powell (Manassas, Va., Osbourn) and Rashaan Bean (San Antonio, Texas, Forest Park). The Cavaliers were finally able to knock down some shots but still found themselves trailing by 18 with a little under 10 minutes to play. Up 43-25 at the 5:17 point in the first half, RaeShaun Henderson (North Dinwiddie, Va., Dinwiddie HS) and Keion Adams made back-to-back layups to push their lead to 22. At the one minute mark, Wilson led 55-34 as Henderson scored the next 5 points for his team to put them up 60-35. Cabrini nailed a three late before the half and went into the locker room down 60-38. Wilson started the second half with layups from Adams and Powell to take a 26-point lead early in the period. The Cavaliers began to chip away at what would be their largest deficit of the game. Cabrini proceeded to go on a 16-4 run that brought the Cavaliers within 14 points with 14 minutes remaining in the game. Wilson responded with an 11-0 run of their own that was led by the play of Rashaan Bean. The run pushed the Phoenix lead back up to 25 with 12 minutes to play. Both teams went back and forth for the next 10 minutes as Cabrini was able to get a few defensive stops and cut their deficit to 10 with 2 minutes left. Freshman Adrian Thomas (Germantown, Md., Northwest HS) put away any hopes of a miraculous comeback with consecutive layups. Senior Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) hit two free-throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach and the Phoenix walked away with a 102-91 victory.

Inside the Box Score: Wilson was hot from the field as they shot 60% in the game and hit on 48% of their threes. Four Phoenix players reached double figures in the game. Keion Adams led all scorers with 29 points. Rashaan Bean had another great night with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Zachary Powell had 17 points while RaeShaun Henderson added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Rashaan Bean was named to the Doc Greene All-Tournament team for his play in the two tournament games.

Up Next: Wilson will have a week off before they make the short trip to face Division I opponent Mount St. Mary's, next Saturday. The game is set to tip off at 4:00 p.m. in Emmitsburg, Md.
