#18 Chargers Top Phoenix in Men's Hoops

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team hit the road to take on the #18 ranked Lancaster Bible College Chargers in North Eastern Athletic Conference action. The Chargers posted a 101-73 victory over the Phoenix.

The Chargers and Phoenix played a pretty tight first seven minutes of the game with the two teams trading baskets during the early going and the home team holding just a four point advantage. However, the Chargers would open things up with a 13-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 28-13 lead with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening half. The hosts would grab their largest lead of the half at 48-22 on a Jon Bird layup but the Phoenix would battle back over the next three and half minutes, capped off by a three-pointer by junior
Marquis Nelson  (Hagerstown, Md. , Edison High School ) as time expired in the first half, and go into the break trailing 53-33.

During the second half the Phoenix were unable to put a dent in the Chargers lead as they pushed their lead out to 33 points on the strength of shooting 51% from the field.

For the game the Phoenix were led offensively by sophomore
Marqwon Wynn (Wilmington, Del. , Alexis I. duPont ) with a game high 26 points and 5 steals. Junior Willie McDowell (Baltimore, MD, August Fells Savage Institute) added 13 points, while sophomore Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) tallied 9 points and 6 rebounds. The Phoenix shot 37.5% from the field by just 4 of 22 from behind the arc for 18%. The Chargers posted five players in double figures, led by CJ Dunston with 24 points and Bird added a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds. 

Wilson will be back in action at home tomorrow versus Cazenovia College with a scheduled tip of 12:00 p.m.
