Bison Thunder Past Phoenix

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team played host to Gallaudet University in North Eastern Athletic Conference action and the visiting Bison came away with a 109-72 victory.

The Bison came out shooting hot as they knocked down their first five shots en route to shooting 60% from the floor in the first half. Joshua McGriff led a trio of Bison with double digit points at the break with 15 points, while Raymond Nelson added 14 points and Trey Gordon netted 12. The Phoenix had a good shooting half from behind the arc, knocking down 50% of their attempts led by a four for six effort by sophomore Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley), who led the team with 12 points at halftime. The Bison held a 22-14 edge on the boards at the break and that helped propel them to a 55-39 lead.

The second half shooting for the Bison cooled off a little, but they still shot a solid 51% from the floor and held a 28-17 advantage on the glass in the second half. Sophomore Marqwon Wynn (Wilmington, Del. , Alexis I. duPont ) paced the Phoenix offense in the second half with 10 points.

For the game, the Phoenix offense was led by Wynn with 17 points and Adams with 12 points. The Bison were paced by a 23 point effort from McGriff and a 22 point scoring night by Nelson. The visitors held a 50-31 advantage on the glass and finished the game shooting 55% from the field. The Phoenix shot 43% from behind the arc and 91% from the free throw line.

With the loss the Phoenix fall to 3-9 overall and 2-5 in the NEAC, while the Bison improve to 8-5 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Wilson is scheduled to be back in action this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they host Morrisville State.
