BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team lost a tough 64-63 decision at Bryn Athyn in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Thursday night. Sophomore Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) tallied his sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and a season high 14 rebounds in the loss.

The Phoenix and Lions battled in a tight game the entire evening as the largest lead of the game was 7 points by the Phoenix just midway through the first half, the rest of the contest was played within two possessions for either team. The visiting Phoenix scored their first basket of the game on a fast-break basket by junior
Willie McDowell (Baltimore, MD, August Fells Savage Institute) and grabbed their first lead of the game on a three-point basket by junior Marquis Nelson  (Hagerstown, Md. , Edison High School ) just 2 minutes into the contest. The back and forth between the two teams would continue over the next several minutes and the Phoenix would push out to their largest lead of the half when freshman Jemel Kaba (New York, N.Y., New Mexico Military Institute) knocked down a free throw to finish off a three-point play giving the visitors a 27-20 advantage with just under eight minutes remaining in the half. The Lions would respond with a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to one point at 27-26.  After the game was tied at 30 a piece, freshman Michael Kelbaugh (Williamsport, Md., Williamsport) and Adams would hit back to back three-pointers to give the Phoenix a 36-30 lead. The Lions would score the last three points of the half and the Phoenix would take a three point lead into the break.

The second half played out much like the first as the two teams traded baskets for most of the half. The Phoenix took a three point lead at the 1:01 mark on a free throw by sophomore
Marqwon Wynn (Wilmington, Del. , Alexis I. duPont ). After a pair of free throws by the Lions Deion Boyer cut the Phoenix lead down to one point, the Lions were able to get a defensive stop to set up the games dramatic final seconds. Troy Steed gave the Lions their first lead of the second half at 64-63, as he scored a bucket with 7 seconds remaining. The Phoenix tried to get the game winner on a shot in the paint by Wynn with 4 seconds left, but he wasn't able to convert and the battle for the rebound went out of bounds to the Lions.

The Phoenix offense was led by freshman Jemel Kaba who netted a career high 16 points and tied a career high with 7 rebounds. McDowell and Nelson each had season highs in rebounds with 11 and 10 respectively.

With the loss the Phoenix fall to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in NEAC play, while the Lions move to 1-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Wilson will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Utica, N.Y. to take on SUNY Poly at 1:00 p.m.
