Bobcats Down Phoenix in Men's Hoops

YORK, Pa. - The Wilson College men's basketball team battled the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in the consolation game of the Coaches Versus Cancer Classic and fell to the Bobcats by a final score of 89-76.

Sophomore Keion Adams (Gaithersburg, Md., Seneca Valley) recorded his third straight double-double this season as he scored 12 points and collected 10 rebounds. Sophomore Marqwon Wynn (Wilmington, Del. , Alexis I. duPont ) led the way for the Phoenix with 19 points, while junior Marquis Nelson (Hagerstown, Md. , Edison High School ) added 16 points and freshman Ian Frazier (Palmyra, Pa., Palmyra) chipped in with 13.

The contest was tight for much of the first half. Freshman Jemel Kaba (New York, N.Y., New Mexico Military Institute) knocked down a jumper in the paint to put the Phoenix ahead 16-15 at the 11 minute mark of the half. The Bobcats would answer with a 13-0 run over the next four and a half minutes to take a 12 point advantage. However, the Phoenix would finish off the first half with a 14-5 run led by Nelson, Wynn, and Adams to cut the Bobcat lead to just 3 points heading into the break.

During the early minutes of the second half the Bobcats slowly increased their lead to 14 points, but a three point bucket by Nelson and a couple of free throws by Wynn cut the lead to 10 points with just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest. The Bobcats proceeded to go on a 12-0 run over the next few minutes to push the lead to 22 points with just under 8 minutes remaining. The lead would reach as many as 24 points, but the Phoenix would not quit working on both ends of the floor. A late 10-0 run would cut the deficit to 12 points, but the Phoenix would get no closer.

With the loss the Phoenix fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 2-1 with the win.

Wilson will be back in action this Tuesday, November 24 for the home opener versus PSU Mont Alto at 5:00 p.m.
